During mediation sessions, the mediator facilitates open and effective communication between the parties. The focus is on problem solving and decision making. Issues are identified, prioritized and options are examined until all the terms of a fair and equitable agreement are reached.
A comprehensive settlement agreement includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
- Custody and Child Support
- Alimony
- Division of Assets and Debts
- Health and Life Insurance
- Parenting Plan
- Retirement/Pension
- Tax Deductions
Once the couple has worked through and resolved all the issues relevant to their divorce, the Mediator writes whats called a Memorandum of Understanding, a document which accurately reflects the agreement between them.
